Paddy's Irish Fiesta

Brace yourselves, the people who claim to have Irish heritage are coming!

Also coming is an excuse for why there was no column last week. I was housesitting for my parents and figured I would use one of our many computers to finish what I had written, but then made a shocking discovery that my parents had actually downsized to laptops and external drives! Which they had taken out of town with them. And to add to the bad news, Stacy Keibler got married last weekend. Let's hope her wedding went better than her previous one:

Two weeks ago I asked you what the best Harold Ramis movie is, and over half of you answered Ghostbusters. That reminds me, I don't own a lot of his movies and haven't seen them since the 90's. Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend!

  • Box Office News: Two weeks ago, Liam Neeson ruled the world, but THIS PAST WEEKEND... IS... SPARTA!
  • Trailer Time: Check out new trailers for The Normal Heart, Hateship Loveship and more!
  • In Theaters This Week: Need For Speed and Veronica Mars

  • Would you still play with the twins from The Shining today?
  • Are films shot on film more easily preserved than films shot digitally? The answer might surprise you.
  • Speaking of preserving films, now you too can learn to try it yourself at home! WARNING: Do not try it yourself at home
  • And finally, did you know that the text at the bottom of a movie poster (aka the "billing block") is actually a legally binding document?

  • For those of you who were too busy doing anything to watch the Oscars, here are the results
  • Speaking of awards, here is the list of nominees for the highly coveted and totally credible MTV Movie Awards. Also Conan will host
  • Captain America 3 will go head to head with Batman vs. Superman in 2016
  • This Week in Pointless Remake News: Fletch
  • Concerned about Amazing Spider-Man 2's overload of villains? You shouldn't be
  • The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been restored and will be released in theaters this summer
  • A German film can teach us a lot about crowdfunding

And that brings us to this week's poll.

Would you ever donate money via KickStarter, etc. to help fund the making of a movie?
    Yes
    No
    Depends on the Movie
    Depends on the Rewards
