3DSta

Remember to send in your list of the Top 25 Film Franchises to Jope by whenever the deadline is. Anything with a sequel counts! I know I'll probably forget :(

I'm buying a Nintendo 3DS this weekend because they're offering a free download of the latest Pokemon game with purchase. I haven't bought a Nintendo handheld system or game in ten years. I also haven't played a Pokemon game since the fall of 2000. And if you think that's weird, here's something even weirder that I stumbled upon on Reddit:

  • Box Office News: A CGI dog leaves yet another video game adaptation with a sudden... need for cash
  • Trailer Time: Check out new trailers for The Giver, Amazing Spider-Man 2 and more!
  • In Theaters This Week: Divergent and Muppets Most Wanted
  • Next Week's Notable DVD Releases: Delivery Man and The Wolf of Wall Street

  • Coming Soon reviews films from South by Southwest
  • Note to self: Don't diss the 300 movies anymore
  • The sex scene is dead
  • People who funded the Veronica Mars movie's Kickstarter want refunds, and WB is obliging
  • You might be a star of the new Scarlett Johansson movie! You might have also slept with her!
  • “Pixar does not look at sequels as a financial plan." In other news, The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3 are coming soon!
  • Speaking of Pixar, 3D rereleases of The Incredibles and Ratatouille are coming
  • Is this the future for the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (WARNING: Kinda Sorta Spoiler-ish)
  • Speaking of Marvel, their schedule is set through 2018. Also includes the announcement of Taken 3.
  • Sam Raimi is rebooting the Grudge series
  • Come 2015, we'd better know who to call
  • SUPER NEW STAR WARS NEWS UPDATE: there is no "news" here

And that brings us to this week's poll.

Would you ever kill someone over a movie disagreement?
    Yes
    No

    Paddy's Irish Fiesta

Brace yourselves, the people who claim to have Irish heritage are coming!

Also coming is an excuse for why there was no column last week. I was housesitting for my parents and figured I would use one of our many computers to finish what I had written, but then made a shocking discovery that my parents had actually downsized to laptops and external drives! Which they had taken out of town with them. And to add to the bad news, Stacy Keibler got married last weekend. Let's hope her wedding went better than her previous one:

Two weeks ago I asked you what the best Harold Ramis movie is, and over half of you answered Ghostbusters. That reminds me, I don't own a lot of his movies and haven't seen them since the 90's. Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend!

  • Box Office News: Two weeks ago, Liam Neeson ruled the world, but THIS PAST WEEKEND... IS... SPARTA!
  • Trailer Time: Check out new trailers for The Normal Heart, Hateship Loveship and more!
  • In Theaters This Week: Need For Speed and Veronica Mars
  • Next Week's Notable DVD Releases: American Hustle, Frozen and Saving Mr. Banks

Good Guy Glenn: Send Links a Week Ago; Doesn't Complain When Not Posted
  • Peter Mayhew has been uploading rare Star Wars pictures to his Twitter recently
  • Would you still play with the twins from The Shining today?
  • Are films shot on film more easily preserved than films shot digitally? The answer might surprise you.
  • Speaking of preserving films, now you too can learn to try it yourself at home! WARNING: Do not try it yourself at home
  • And finally, did you know that the text at the bottom of a movie poster (aka the "billing block") is actually a legally binding document?

  • For those of you who were too busy doing anything to watch the Oscars, here are the results
  • Speaking of awards, here is the list of nominees for the highly coveted and totally credible MTV Movie Awards. Also Conan will host
  • Captain America 3 will go head to head with Batman vs. Superman in 2016
  • This Week in Pointless Remake News: Fletch
  • Concerned about Amazing Spider-Man 2's overload of villains? You shouldn't be
  • The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been restored and will be released in theaters this summer
  • A German film can teach us a lot about crowdfunding

And that brings us to this week's poll.

Would you ever donate money via KickStarter, etc. to help fund the making of a movie?
    Yes
    No
    Depends on the Movie
    Depends on the Rewards

It's Hollywood's biggest weekend of the year... and I couldn't possibly care less!

Last week I asked if you thought Hollywood should cut back on spoiling upcoming movies, and 100 percent of you answered Yes.

  • The new villain of Star Wars is... Some Guy! Oh, he's from THAT show, yeah this movie already sucks
  • All of Marvel's Netflix films will shoot in New York City. Maybe we can use a kickstarter to get Glenn a bus ride down to the city for him to cameo!
  • On the heels of the LEGO Movie comes The Minecraft Movie
  • Now we CAN catch them all... on Netflix
  • Did this week give us the first 69 on television? (SPOILERS for The Americans)
  • Noooooooooo
  • Coming soon: a second Matrix trilogy? Oh boy....

And that brings us to this week's poll.
